Canada Post Labour Disruption

Dear members of LiUNA Local 183,

As you may be aware, Canada Post and the CUPW have announced that starting October 11th, they will be moving from a full national strike to rotating strike activity.

Payments for benefit claims and vacation pay requests that were received and processed prior to October 11, 2025, have been placed in the mail.

Due to the uncertainty of Canada Post services during the rotating strikes, you may experience delays in mail delivery in the affected areas. At this time, we are not aware of which areas will be impacted once the rotating strike activity begins.

We encourage members to utilize the digital options available for expedited service during this time, please contact our Customer Service line for further information on the following:

  • *NEW* – Register for Direct Deposit, have all payments deposited directly into your bank account.
  • Submit Claims Online, using the LiUNAcare eClaims online portal or mobile app.
  • Request Information or Assistance, via telephone or via e-mail (please see contact information below).
  • Utilize LiUNAcare 183 Website Resources – download forms, access to benefit information, request vacation pay & more.

The LiUNAcare Local 183 offices remain open during regular business hours and members are encouraged to visit the Wilson and Vaughan offices in person for any additional assistance.

Medical Cannabis Industrial Benefit Notice

Effective for all claims incurred on or after July 1, 2025, changes to the Medical Cannabis benefit coverage will be as follows:

  • The Plan will reimburse up to a $500 calendar year maximum as per below and in accordance with Health Canada guidelines:
    • Dried – Maximum 30 day supply, 90 gram monthly max.
    • Oils – Maximum 30 supply, 450 ml monthly max.
    • Capsules – 30 day supply, 600 mg monthly max.

Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund Merger & Enhancements

IMPORTANT NOTICE

Benefit Merger – Labourers’ Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund to merge into the Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund

The Trustees of the Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund have approved the transfer of the Members’ benefits coverage from the Labourers’ Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund to the Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund.

Effective JUNE 1, 2025, Labourers’ Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund members will receive the same core benefits as members participating in the Local 183 Members’ Benefit Fund plan.

Labourers’ Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund members will also receive an enhanced level of specialty benefits (Critical Illness, Hospital Cash, etc.)
In addition to the above noted enhancements, members will be able to utilize a number of new benefits and services currently not offered in the Local 183 Industrial Benefit Fund plan.

NEW – EFT Payments Available

Register today!

Effective June 1, 2025, in addition to direct deposit reimbursement currently available with a registered eClaims account – the following payments can now be made directly into your bank account via Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) for Legal Claims.

Simply download the application for EFT direct deposit and then submit the form here. All future LiUNAcare Local 183 benefit payments previously paid via cheque will now be deposited directly into your bank account.

Please note that if you have previously submitted an application to receive EFT reimbursement for prescription drug, extended healthcare and dental payments, your account will be automatically updated to direct deposit for all future benefit payments effective June 1.

Any changes to existing authorizations will require a new application form.
